Synopsis:
Fairly widespread breeder on larger, shallow, marshy, lakes east of
the Cascades, including lowland marshes near the
Blue Mountains. More restricted in the Columbia Basin. Most notable are
the records from Morrow, Wheeler, Crook, Wallowa,
and Malheur County.

Relative Detectability:
Fairly easy to confirm nesting by observing fledged
young accompanying their parents. Builds shore-
edge or floating nests.
Challenge:
Attempt to determine if species is currently nesting in Cascades.
